Finding the right therapist can feel intimidating. Not only are you looking for a professional you can trust, but also an environment where you feel safe, heard, and validated. As a client-centred therapist, I am devoted to developing a strong therapeutic relationship within a nonjudgmental environment. I approach therapy with the belief that every individual can be the expert in their life and is capable of creating long-lasting positive change. Once individuals become aware of unhealthy patterns, behaviours, or thought processes — change can begin! Together, we can address a wide variety of concerns ranging from stress management, negative thinking traps, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, grief, attachment, conflict management, life skills, self-esteem, ADHD and abuse/trauma. I apply an integrated approach to treatment by utilizing a biopsychosocial approach to healing. I will collaborate with you to examine the impact your biology (pathology), psychological (thoughts, coping mechanisms, fears), social (socioeconomic status, vocational life, family life), and culture/spirituality has on your unique mental health concerns. In my personal life, increasing self-awareness has helped me to be able to identify the habits keeping me stuck in unhealthy/unhelpful cycles. It is important to go beyond short-term solutions and quick fixes. Kimberly Crossman, RSSW, Psychotherapist, CCAC
