Massage Therapy with dry cupping combines Massage Therapy techniques with the use of cups to create suction on the skin as part of an individualized treatment approach. During treatment, your RMT may incorporate dry cupping alongside Massage Therapy techniques when appropriate. Dry cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction without breaking the skin. The treatment may produce a temporary pulling or lifting sensation and can leave temporary marks on the skin. Your RMT will discuss your needs, preferences, and treatment options with you before proceeding and determine whether dry cupping is an appropriate technique to incorporate into your Massage Therapy treatment. Dry cupping may be incorporated into Massage Therapy care when the RMT has the appropriate knowledge, skills, competence, and professional liability coverage to provide the technique safely and in accordance with the Massage Therapy Scope of Practice.
